Numerous employees from the Jacksonville Independent School District spent Thursday afternoon transferring equipment and supplies from their former administration building to new facilities on the campus of the former Lon Morris College. Boxes and boxes of equipment were toted in to the headquarters by incoming staff such as Billy Myers (left) of JISD's maintenance crew. Earlier this year, the district entered – and won – a bid for the purchase of the Lon Morris College administration building and the Vivian and Bob Smith Events Center, plus property, that was auctioned off after the historic college declared bankruptcy and shuttered the program. The former district administration building on Pine Street will be utilized by the district technology department. The move from the old site to the new one, which is more centrally located to all campuses, will be complete by today.
