JACKSONVILLE — Brooke Langston of Mixon and Matt Ranshaw of Troup have announced their engagement. The couple will marry Saturday, Oct. 16, 2010 at Pistol Creek Ranch in Mt. Selman.

Brooke is the daughter of Les and Karen Langston of Mixon. She is the granddaughter of Ruth and the late Oma M. Cole of Mixon and the late Nolan and Libby Senesac of Jacksonville.

She graduated from Troup High School in 2003, Tyler Junior College in 2005 and the University of Texas at Austin in 2007 with a Bachelor’s of Broadcast Journalism and is currently working at CBS-19 as the evening news producer.

Matt is the son of Mike and Karen Ranshaw of Laurel, Miss., formerly of Troup. His grandparents are the late Thomas H. and Mildred D. Ranshaw of Kentucky and Bill and Phyllis Aven of Springfield, Missouri.

Matt was home-schooled and graduated in 2003. He graduated from Kilgore College in 2008 and is attending Stephen F. Austin State University majoring in agriculture business and is set to graduate in May 2011. He serves as a Staff Sergeant in the Air Force Reserve and works at Steele’s Feed and Seed in Troup.

Matt and Brooke were baptized together on March 1, 1992 when they were children at FBC Mixon. They’ve known each other their entire lives, both lived in Troup and grew up in church together, but were recently re-introduced by a family member and Facebook.

After a honeymoon cruise to Montego Bay, Jamaica, Grand Cayman Islands and Cozumel, Mexico, they plan to live in Troup.
