Help make the future of beef bright

CHEROKEE COUNTY — I am writing to make mention of the upcoming Texas Beef Checkoff Referendum, June 2 -6, 2014. Cattle producers will have an opportunity to establish a Texas Beef Checkoff of $1 per head. This whole dollar will be managed by Texas ranchers and dairymen to be invested in ways that will help promote beef and to provide funding for research and educational efforts that help cattlemen like me stay more profitable.

I’ve done the research and the beef industry needs to come together to promote their product, develop more ways to get value out of each carcass and to fight off the anti-meat activists that want to put us all out of business.

I’m asking everyone to take a look at www.

texasbeefcheckoff.com for information about the referendum and what all the beef checkoff can do to make the future of beef bright.

  • Discarded and forgotten

Family reunions are a tradition worldwide, I suppose. I’ve read the Kennedy’s do them; I have enjoyed movies of poignant, funny, even deadly gatherings of clans both small and great.

Miss Wallace’s response to the criticisms of the Klein Animal Shelter is one of the most articulate, erudite and intellectually honest letters to the editor I have ever read.
