Letters to the Editor

Letters to the Editor
  • Standing up for abused, neglected children

It's been sixteen years since I retired from the Air Force, but I still serve our country and my community today. I am proud to be a veteran, and I am proud to be a CASA - a court appointed special advocate.

  • Questioning job of animal shelter workers

I would like to make a comment on the animal shelter. I live in Gallatin on Hwy. 22. Everybody has a cat or a dog or lots of them.

  • Kudos to shelter’s response to criticism

Miss Wallace’s response to the criticisms of the Klein Animal Shelter is one of the most articulate, erudite and intellectually honest letters to the editor I have ever read.

  • A clearer explanation of writer’s comments

I certainly appreciate the things that the Klein Animal Shelter does and look forward to continuing my volunteer efforts (although I doubt I am welcome back at Klein!).

  • Animal shelter director responds to letters

The Klein Animal Shelter provides housing to animals in need from all across East Texas.  We strive to re-home these animals through the public and by working with rescue groups.

  • ‘Open carry theory fails the real world test’

According to CJ Grisham, founder and president of “Open Carry Texas”, many Americans have been emotionally brainwashed by the gun-control lobby to fear the open carrying of handguns.  “It’s their attempt to totally disarm us,” said Grisham.

  • Be considerate of others at graduations

This past week I had the opportunity to attend not one but three high school graduations

  • What does Klein Animal Shelter do with animals?

I’d like to add to Mr. Hall’s letter, what a joke Klein Animal Shelter has become. One of my dogs died of natural causes, I needed one for a buddy for my existing dog (approx. 12 years old), ask for a female bird dog, the kind I have, nothing ever happened.

  • Local letters a way to ‘weld our community together’

This “letter to the editor” is not to the editor but to the citizens of Jacksonville.  This space reserved for the opinion of the citizens of Jacksonville has gone fallow in the last six months. It has been used mostly for a phone book with instructions on how to reach the officials you have elected.

  • Shelter should adopt pets to those who want them

To Klein Animal Shelter: Give  Lt. Col. Aric W. Hall a cat.  I've volunteered at the Palestine Animal Shelter for a few years and recently started to volunteer at Klein, specifically to help adopt out cats.  The prospect for these shelter cats are grim.
