On April 11, Jacksonville College held its Spring Banquet at the Family Life Center at First Baptist Church, Jacksonville. The theme of the banquet was a luau.
JC students Jason Steele and Megan Cumbee were named 2008’s Mr. and Ms. Jacksonville College.
Jason Steele is a graduate of Waxahachie High School. Jason is the son of Donald Steele and Donna Shade. He served as the Jacksonville College cheerleader captain last year.
This year he was the athletic announcer at JC basketball games and served as Master of Ceremonies for this year’s JC Spring Banquet.
Jason is President of the JC Student Government Association and is very involved in the planning of spiritual, social, and educational activities, in addition to being a member of various JC committees, including the Judicial, Long Range Planning, Homecoming, and Spring Banquet committees.
He is a member of the B.J. Albritton Ministerial Alliance (BJAMA), as well as the Mission Team, where he has the opportunity to preach and use his many talents. Jason is also a member of the choir, and he works as a student assistant in the college’s Admissions Department.
Megan Cumbee is a graduate of Rusk High School. She is the daughter of Will and Ann Cumbee of Jacksonville.
Megan was a member of the 2008 Sophomore Homecoming Court. She is a member of Delta Psi Omega, the National Honorary Theater Society for Junior Colleges, and the Cross Act Company Drama Club.
She is also the Sophomore Class President (student government). She sings in the choir, the College Singers, and the Women’s Trio. She serves as the secretary for the Jacksonville College Choir as well. Megan is attending Jacksonville College on a choir scholarship. She is pursuing an Associate of Science Degree in Real Estate. She has not decided where she will attend college after completing her work at Jacksonville College. Megan’s future plans include becoming a real estate agent.
