J’ville native opens business

Ramona S. Alexander Walden, a native of Jacksonville, has launched a venture in the Dallas/Fort Worth area.

Walden, daugther of the Rev. Vernell and N. Sue Alexander, specializes in linking professional people who do not wish to work full-time with businesses in the area for part-time employment.

Walden graduated from Jacksonville High School in 1982, and is also a graduate of the University of Houston. She attended Purdue University’s Krannert School of Management and received a Master’s of Science degree. She also attended a part-time MBA program at the University of Dallas and recieved an MBA in finance.

She bought a franchise of 10 til 2, a staffing agency that places college-educated professionals into long-term, part-time positions.

“I don’t think learning and building up your business skills is a waste of time,” the stay-at-home mom said in a release submitted to the Daily Progress. “But you want to make sure that where that path leads you is where you want to go.”

Rusk man featured in art show

Local artist Arthur Sekula was once again accepted in the Pawtucket, R.I., Watercolor Society exhibit.

This juried show took place through Thursday. Sekula is also showing his sculptures online at artintheround.wordpress.com.

The online show will continue through the end of October. Visitors can vote on their favorites.

Sekula received his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Stephen F. Austin State University and currently teaches art for the Rusk Independent School District.
