Special birthday celebration held at Angelina House

JACKSONVILLE —

Sadler was the guest of honor at a surprise party for his 30th birthday at Angelina House on Wednesday, an event coordinated by Angelina House Wellness Director Trachel Crow and residence sales manager Linzey Campbell.

Sadler, whose birthday is Nov. 26, has volunteered at the senior resident center for eight years, said his mother, Sheila Sadler, of Jacksonville. “He was trying to find something to do after graduation” and hit upon volunteering with seniors because “he loves older people,” she explained. “And Angelina House is his favorite place.”

Because he's been a part of residents' lives for so long, Crow said Sadler “is a part of the (Angelina House) family.

“Residents really enjoy having him here, because he's so excited about coming here and working. … He was so looking forward to turning 30, and we thought it would be cool to throw him a surprise party,” she added.

Sadler, the younger of Robert and Sheila Sadler's two sons, assists with residents in various ways, from helping them get to the dining hall for meals and events, to signing with and for them, to leading games of Yahtzee, among other ways.
