The Rusk Chamber of Commerce is helping to take some of the guess-work out of planning a dream wedding.
The chamber’s annual bridal show is from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at 517 N. Main St., on the square in Rusk. Admission is free.
“We had really good participation last year,” Rusk Chamber Executive Director Bob Goldsberry said. “A lot of people were introduced to all the varieties of wedding services we have locally.
The show will feature vendors that can provide everything to make a wedding special, from flowers and food to photography and venues for the reception — even gift ideas for the lucky couple.
“We have a large number of vendors again this year, offering everything from A to Z in planning a wedding,” Goldsberry said.
According to the Web site, www.costofwedding.com, U.S. couples spend $28,800 for their wedding, on average.
“This does not include cost for a honeymoon, engagement ring, bridal consultant or wedding planner,” the site states.
The Web site calculated costs in Cherokee County can be somewhat lower — Rusk couples could spend an average of $16,990 for a wedding, while couples who live in Jacksonville might average a cost of $19,010 for their wedding.
“Wedding costs can vary widely and this is just an estimated average of what couples will likely spend, based on our research at The Wedding Report,” the site stated.
Those figures include wedding attire, the ceremony itself, flowers, entertainment, photography, the reception, invitations, transportation and wedding favors and gifts.
