Endres named as ETMC administrator

The East Texas Medical Center Regional Healthcare System announced Tuesday that Jack Endres, the man who has served as interim administrator of ETMC-Jacksonville since Feb. 11, had been named permanent administrator of the hospital.

“Jack is a strong leader who is committed to working closely with the hospital’s fine staff and physicians, and ensuring a bright and healthy future for health care services in Jacksonville,” said Jerry Massey, senior vice president for affiliate operations.

Endres has been associate administrator of ETMC-Athens since May 2002 and has previously acted as the interim administrator at ETMC-Clarksville. Prior to joining ETMC, Endres served for 10 years as the administrator of the Muenster Memorial Hospital in Muenster, where he was responsible for all aspects of that hospital’s finances and operations.

“I look forward to working with the excellent employees and medical staff of ETMC-Jacksonville through this transition, as we work to exceed the expectations of our patients,” Endres said.

Endres has been filling in as administrator for the past three months, since Steve Bowen, ETMC-Jacksonville’s previous president, accepted a position with the health care system’s corporate offices in Tyler. A farewell reception was held Feb. 21 to recognize Bowen and his family for two decades of service to the Jacksonville community.

Prior to entering the health care administration field, Endres worked as a lawyer in Dallas for six years. Endres graduated from the University of Texas with a bachelor’s degree in business administration, the Southern Methodist University School of Law with a Juris Doctor and the New York University School of Law as a Master of Laws in Taxation. He serves on the Executive Committee of the Texas Organization of Rural and Community Hospitals, and is a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives.

“Since I began working at ETMC-Jacksonville in February, I have been impressed by the commitment of the board members, the medical staff and the employees to this community,” Endres said. “I look forward to working closely with them in the future, as we work to continually improve upon the services offered at the hospital and provide excellent health care to our patients.”
