JHS graduating senior suffers a seizure

By Raymond Billy

rbilly@jacksonvilleprogress.com

A scary moment preceded this year’s Jacksonville High School graduation ceremony.

A graduating senior suffered a seizure prior to the commencement Friday at the Norman Activity Center — where students gathered before making there way to the Tomato Bowl. EMS workers arrived on the scene about 6:45 p.m.

She was taken out of NAC on a gurney and received care from medics inside of an ambulance parked outside.

The student was allowed to recuperate in the vehicle rather than being taken to a hospital. Officials didn’t want to send her away for treatment unless it was absolutely necessary, as doing so would have caused her to miss out on the graduation ceremony.
