TxDOT continues road maintenance in, around county

Jacksonville Progress

Progress reports

Texas Department of Transportation is taking advantage of recent dry weather to maintain some of Cherokee Counties most-traveled roads.

Contract crews are applying the final surface to U.S. Highway 69 in Rusk between Loop 62 and FM 343, and that work should be completed by Friday, July 3.

Once the resurfacing is completed, crews will return to paint the stripes and put down the reflective buttons. Daytime lane closures will be in effect while the work is in progress.

Texas Department of Transportation maintenance crews are scheduled on Monday to apply a seal coat to U.S. Highway 84 between the Texas State Railroad and FM 3266 in Anderson County, which is approximately four miles east of the park entrance.

The work is scheduled to take approximately two days.

Daytime lane closures will be in effect while the work is in progress, and flaggers will control traffic in two-lane areas.

Median construction to begin on Tyler’s West Loop 323

TYLER — Construction crews are scheduled to begin work on Monday on the area’s final planned raised median project.

The project, which calls for raised medians to be installed on West Loop 323 from US 69 north to just south of SH 64 west, will also see the intersections of Loop 323 and SH 64 and Loop 323 and US 69 widened to allow for additional turning capacity and free-right turns where rights of way permit.

Work is scheduled to begin between SH 110 and SH 64 in front of John Tyler High School so the work can be completed in that area by the time school starts.

The entire project is scheduled to take approximately 15 months to complete.

"Tyler continues to grow," said TxDOT public information officer Larry Krantz. "And as it grows, the traffic generated by its powerful economic engine will continue to increase. We’re outgrowing a lot of the highways and intersections, like Troup and the Loop and Broadway and the Loop, and we need to continue to address that outgrowing by expanding intersections and adding safety features."

Resurfacing work scheduled around Smith County

SMITH COUNTY — Texas Department of Transportation maintenance crews on Monday are scheduled to resurface part of FM 344 west of Bullard on either side of FM 2137.

The work should last one day.

Crews will also be at work on FM 2493 and FM 344 throughout the week finishing the shoulder work associated with recent resurfacing in those areas.

A second crew will be conducting resurfacing work beginning Wednesday on FM 14 just north of North Loop 323 in Tyler, followed by similar work on Thursday on the IH 20 frontage roads on either side of SH 155.

Daytime lane closures will be in effect in each location while the work is in progress, and flaggers will control traffic in two-lane areas.

Resurfacing work planned on FM 1803, FM 315

HENDERSON COUNTY — Texas Department of Transportation maintenance crews are scheduled this week to resurface FM 1803 south of SH 31 between Brownsboro and Murchison.

The work is in preparation for a seal coat application later in July.

A second crew will be at work resurfacing FM 315 south of Brownsboro near FM 3079.

Daytime lane closures will be in effect in each location while the work is in progress, and flaggers will control traffic in two-lane areas.

Pavement repairs to conclude this week in Kilgore

KILGORE — Texas Department of Transportation maintenance crews are scheduled to complete their pavement repair work on SH 42 in Kilgore by the end of this week.

The work will be done in the outside lanes on SH 42 between SH 31 and Kilgore Street.

TxDOT plans work on SH 43, FM 838

RUSK COUNTY — Texas Department of Transportation maintenance crews are scheduled to repair base failures on SH 43 east of Henderson this week, followed mid-week by resurfacing work on FM 838 south of New London.

Daytime lane closures will be in effect in each location while the work is in progress, and flaggers will control traffic in two-lane areas.

Base repairs continue on FM 1651

VAN ZANDT COUNTY — Texas Department of Transportation maintenance crews are scheduled to continue base repair work on FM 1651 between SH 198 and FM 47.

Daytime lane closures will be in effect while the work is in progress, and flaggers will control traffic in two-lane areas.

Work on US 80 in Mineola scheduled to conclude this week

MINEOLA — Texas Department of Transportation maintenance crews are scheduled this week to conclude base repair and resurfacing work on US 80 inside Mineola.
