A pair of suspects were arrested in a drug bust late Friday afternoon on Andrews Street in Jacksonville.

The arrests were made as a result of an ongoing narcotics investigation being made by the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division. CCSD Capt. Chris White said the investigation took more than a few days.

A search warrant was executed at around 3 p.m. Friday by Special Weapons and Tactics unit members, along with Jamie Beene, Precinct 4 constable, and a K-9 unit. The search warrant was granted by Cherokee County Judge Craig Fletcher.

“During the subsequent search of the residence, an off-white rock-like substance believed to be ‘crack’ cocaine was located throughout the residence,” the CCSD stated in a press release.

While searching, officers identified a 25-year-old male from Jacksonville as a suspect at the residence. Authorities stated he was found to be in possession of suspected marijuana and an undetermined amount of cash.

Also located in the residence was Roderick Jermaine Kendrick, 21, who is charged with possession of suspected marijuana.

The 25-year-old has been charged with two counts of manufacture/delivery of a substance in penalty group one, a second degree felony punishable by imprisonment for two to 20 years and/or a fine not to exceed $10,000. He is also charged with one count of possession of a substance in penalty group one, a state jail felony, which is punishable by imprisonment for 180 days to two years and/or a fine not to exceed $10,000. He is also charged with one count of possession of marijuana. This is a class B misdemeanor and punishable by confinement not to exceed 180 days and/or a fine not to exceed $2,000.

Justice of the Peace Precinct 1 Brenda Dominy issued the arrest warrant for the 25-year-old, whose bond had not been posted at the time of this reporting. Kendrick’s bond was set at $750.
