TROUP — Monday will be Jed Dillingham’s first day on his new job — as Troup’s new city administrator.

He was hired by Troup City Council on Tuesday night for the position.

Dillingham, of Whitehouse, has 18 years of city government experience, he said, and is familiar with Troup’s city staff and government officials.

“I was formerly at the city of Whitehouse as their finance director — I was in year 12,” he said. “I was on the city council for six years prior to that.

“I’ve had working relationships with Troup’s city staff and elected officials for a while.”

Dillingham resigned as Whitehouse’s finance director in September. He said he looks forward to beginning his new job.

“Troup, like many local communities, has its challenges at this point in time,” he said. “But it’s a city that is fortunate to have a very capable staff in place already. It’s not a place I will have to go in and fix a lot of big problems.”

Troup’s former city administrator, Russ Obar, retired from the position July 31.
