The Jacksonville Indians will have an opportunity to do something that has not been done in six years when they tee things up against Lindale at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Tomato Bowl.

A win in tonight’s final regular-season game would result in a District 14-4A championship for Jacksonville (7-2, 3-1 in district) while a Lindale (5-4, 3-1) victory would give the Eagles the conference crown.

The Tribe, under the direction of second-year head coach Steve Wells, clinched a playoff spot with last week’s 28-10 win over Kilgore.

Should the Indians come out on top tonight, they will advance to face Texarkana Texas High in a Class 4A, Region II, bi-district clash to be played at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 14. Stephen F. Austin State University’s Homer Bryce Stadium will be the mutually agreed upon venue for that contest.

An Indian loss, coupled with a Whitehouse win at Henderson tonight and a Kilgore loss at Nacogdoches would send the Tribe off to face Longview in bi-district play next week. That game would begin at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 12, at Trinity Mother Frances Rose Stadium in Tyler.
