The Jacksonville Police Department made drug arrests at two routine traffic stops last weekend. Officers confiscated cocaine, Soma, Zanex and marijuana as a result of their efforts.
Officer Jeremy Pate pulled over a vehicle Friday night in the 800 block of Fort Worth Street, near the Buckner Park area, for failing to stop at a stop sign, and located a controlled substance.
“The officer made contact with the driver, and upon searching the vehicle he located a plastic baggy with a powdery substance which he believed to be cocaine. About half a gram was found in the vehicle,” Franklin said. “A Paula Brooks was arrested at the scene, and the amount of drugs confiscated indicate that it was probably intended for personal use not for distribution.”
Three young men were taken into custody Sunday morning after a traffic stop by Officer Jeremy Hill resulted in the seizure of three contraband substances.
According to police reports, Justin Ebanez, 17, was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of a controlled substance (Zanex); Michael Guinn, 20, was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of dangerous drugs (Soma); and Steven Tucker, 17, wa arrested for public intoxication.
JPD is investigating an assault in the 2300 block of Briarwood Drive which allegedly occurred last weekend. According to the victim, her ex-boyfriend kicked her door open and hit her in the mouth. When officers arrived at the scene, the suspect had already left.
Detective Jason Price is working on the case.
