Blast into the New Year aboard the Rail of Lights New Year’s Train in Jefferson, Texas. The unforgettable ride on an antique narrow-gauge train runs each evening, December 26th through 29th and New Year’s Eve, December 31st. Passengers will enjoy lighted scenes along the Cypress Bayou River as they hear the tale of New Year’s traditions and customs. This event is pet-friendly so be sure to contact a depot agent to reserve a seat for your well-behaved, friendly pet.
The patrons will receive New Year’s hats and noisemakers. Each train will include a simulation of the New Year’s Eve Ball dropping in Times Square followed by a fireworks show.
Hear about the unique New Year’s customs around the world, including stories of the Good Luck Dragon in Oriental, North Carolina; Christmas Markets in Austria; Kip’s Toyland in Los Angeles, and “Happy New Year, Charlie Brown.”
Children and adults alike will be awed by the historic railroad depot decked out with holiday lights complete with a gingerbread village. The wonderful narrated tour will also give our patrons an opportunity to sing some of their favorite New Year’s songs as they discover the joy of New Year’s along the river.
Ticket Prices: First Class $18; Coach Class/General Seating: Adults $15; Lap children under 4 are free. First Class is offered in a beautiful historic, enclosed warm coach. If you are riding Coach Class, be sure to dress warmly and bring a blanket. Seats are limited, so purchase your tickets early. Trains run at 7 p.m. on Dec. 26, 27, 28 and 29; and 7p.m. and 8 p.m. on Dec. 31.
