A four-day 4-H camp slated August 6-9 at the Cherokee County Show Barn will give youths a better idea of what the organization is all about and the different types of activities they can become involved in, said Cherokee County Extension Agent Willie Arnwine.
The Youth 912 Camp will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily at the showbarn, located at 611 SE Loop 456 in Jacksonville, and demonstrations will be provided in the areas of livestock, companion animals, horticulture, entomology, bee-keeping, food, fashion and consumer economics. A water day also is planned as part of the entertainment.
The camp is open to all youths ages 9-12, but only 20 of the 40 spaces are reserved for 4-H members. Cost is $50 per 4-H member and $75 for non-members, with family discounts available.
Participants may register through July 26 at the Cherokee County Extension Office, 165 E. 6th Street, Suite 104, in Rusk.
