Cherokee County arrests

RUSK — The Daily Progress will publish a list of arrests from the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office on a weekly basis.

For the week of June 24 - June 30:

 

David Anthony Alford, 40, Dallas, fraudulent transfer of a motor vehicle;

Jerrica Marie Bass, 24, Cuney, manufacturing/delivery of a controlled substance and three counts of possession of a dangerous drug;

Jimmy Lee Berry, 30, Jacksonville, theft of property;

Lindsey Nicole Boyken, 32, Jacksonville, possession of a controlled substance;

Rita Gail Briggs, 53, El Paso, public intoxication;

Jeremy Matthew Chavers, 21, Rusk, no driver's license;

Justin Lee Christian, 21, Rusk, assault/family violence;

K.D. Dixon, 34, Jacksonville, possession of a controlled substance;

Kevin Dodson, 46, Palestine, injury to a child/elderly/disabled;

Jolene Heim Durrett, 37, Jacksonville, failure to appear;

Tommy Wade Franklin, 61, Jacksonville, driving while intoxicated;

Jose Garcia, 32, Jacksonville, no driver's license;

Glen Allan Garner, 42, Rusk, failure to maintain financial responsibility and no motorcycle endorsement;

Frank Merchant Green, 66, Jacksonville, theft of property;

Donald George Greene Jr., 22, Jacksonville, possession of marijuana;

Emmanuel Leano Griffin, 23, Alto, assault;

Kenneth Lee Hair, 40, Rusk, warrants for two counts of burglary of a building;

Maria Hernandez-Delarosa, 37, Nacogdoches, bail jumping/failure to appear and failure to appear on aggravated assault charge;

Ester Hernandez, 53, Jacksonville, forgery, warrant for possession of a controlled substance and warrant for aggravated robbery;

Antonio Maurice Hollis, 36, Jacksonville, criminal trespass;

Larry Dewayne Langley, 43, Rusk, possession of marijuana;

Vincent Logan, 54, Jacksonville, reckless damage and assault/family violence;

Alvin Murray, 65, Crockett, aggravated assault;

Felix Hernandez Nava, 36, Jacksonville, driving while intoxicated third offense or more;

Jessica Kristin OBryan, 30, Alto, theft by check;

Kimberli Kristen Pate, 38, Alto, credit or debit card abuse;

Mario Jesus Perez Jr., 27, Kingsville, theft of property and assault/family violence;

James Michael Perkins, 26, Jacksonville, violation of a protective order, injury to a child and criminal mischief;

Shawn Allen Powers, 27, Rusk, failure to maintain financial responsibility, driving while license invalid, two counts of driving while license invalid and two counts of failure to appear;

    When a Jacksonville woman became a victim of a scam, Jacksonville Police Detective Greg Compton stopped at nothing to solve the case.
    In early January, Compton said a neighbor of a 94-year-old woman reported that someone had “taken advantage of her.”

    No injuries were reported Monday morning after an 18-wheel tractor-trailer bore the brunt of damage when it collided with a logging truck in front of it, according to Jacksonville Police officer Matthew Odom. The wreck occurred at the intersection of Jackson and Canada streets.

    A Jacksonville man is on the road to recovery after a life-saving heart transplant, according to his wife.
    On July 2, David Woods received a new heart from an unknown donor. The surgery took about six hours, and he remained in the intensive care unit for four days afterwards, said his wife, Paula Woods.

  • County changes speed on 4 roads

    Speed limits along four Cherokee County roads were set to 35 miles per hour following a public hearing Monday at the County Courthouse.
    Commissioners voted to lower the speed per request of residents living along CR 4910, CR 4911, CR 4912 and CR 4918, despite the fact that no one showed up for the public hearing, said County Judge Chris Davis.
