Libraries encourage area residents to apply for cards

WELLS — Libraries across the nation – including Rube Sessions Memorial Library in Wells – are participating in national Library Card Sign-Up Month by encouraging residents to get enrolled and enjoy the perks of being a card-holder.

“Our library provides all types of students with the tools they need to succeed, said Sessions Librarian  Kim Herman. “We present exciting and engaging programs that make learning fun and provide resources that they can access from the library or from home, all with their library card.”

In addition to programs like Inter Library Loans and seasonal programs for youths, the Wells library also offers programs like GED classes, Herman said.

Sessions' website – http://sessions.lib.tx.us – also describes programs such as homework and research sites; a kids' corner featuring a variety of interesting links like global village, space and sports; links of interest for high school and middle school students;  and eShelf and research databses.

“It's for these kinds of things that a free library card is the most important school supply at all,” Herman said, adding that materials borrowed from the Wells library may be renewed online.
