US 79 accident injures one

JACKSONVILLE — A two-vehicle accident in the 1800 block of East Rusk Thursday afternoon resulted in some minor chaos but no major injuries.

One driver with suspected minor injuries from the incident was taken to a nearby hospital, explained Jacksonville Fire Department Lt. Mike Terry.

The accident occurred in the vicinity of 1817 E. Rusk Street about 3 p.m., authorities said.

“There were two vehicles involved – from what I understand they were in  opposite directions – down across from Fellowship Bible Church on Highway 79,” the lieutenant said. “One of them went off the road and ended up in the woods after impact.”

There were two people in the vehicle that ended up in the wooded area, neither of whom required medical treatment, reports show.

There was one – the female driver who reported minor injuries – in the vehicle left on the road after the accident.

The makes and models of the vehicles were not immediately available.

Initial Jacksonville Police reports indicate no citations were issued as a result of this collision.
