Jacksonville Daily Progress
This week, the last of my bills were voted out of their respective committees, including: House Bill 1302, “Justin’s Law,” which prohibits any person convicted of a violent sexual crime against a child from working at amusement parks or seeking jobs as taxi cab, bus, or limo drivers; and House Bill 3662, which creates the Texas Workforce Innovation Needs (WIN) Program to provide selected school districts and public colleges with the opportunity to establish collaborative pilot programs to prepare students for careers in great demand. With only 36 days left in session, it’s great that all of our bills are now on the way to the House floor.
In the next few weeks, the House will engage in a debate about the funding of our state’s long-term water plan. In the midst of a grueling statewide drought, Texas does not have enough water to meet all our usage needs and with our growing population to consider, it is essential that we invest in vital water infrastructure projects to ensure we have plenty of life’s most precious natural resource.
