Rusk heralds Yuletide season

RUSK —  Those in search of grand Yuletide Cheer should make a point to take in the annual Christmas lighting and candle lighting ceremony in town on Friday.

Rusk's activities begin at 4 p.m. Nov. 30 and include Christmas carolers, a Christmas lighting, a live Nativity, hay rides, window paintings, Santa Claus, elves and refreshments from downtown merchants.

Then, at 5:15 p.m. is a special program from the Hospice of East Texas and the Keep Rusk Beautiful Committee. "A Time For Peace on Earth," will be presented to a gathering at Henderson and Fifth Streets.

The next day, Saturday, Dec. 1, the public is set to enjoy this year's annual Christmas parade, which begins with a 10 a.m. lineup at Sycamore Street and Austin Bank Parking lot.

The parade begins at 11 a.m. around the downtown square.

The city's Yuletide theme changes from year to year, but Rusk's festivities and floats, business windows and homeowners are always recognized by their participation and adherence to the Christmas Parade theme — which, this year, is "Christmas: Texas Style."

To inquire further about the events, please call (903) 683-4242 or visit the website at www.RuskChamber.com.
