A 27-year-old man was arrested just after 2 a.m. Tuesday after leading officers on a chase from a county disturbance.
David Bryan Tant of Jacksonville was found at a residence on Madison Street hiding behind an air-conditioning unit. He was charged on warrants for possession of a gambling device and forgery. Other charges were pending Tuesday morning, officials said.
Cherokee County sheriff's officers received a call about a disturbance on County Road 3408 in the early morning hours, and Tant reportedly left the location in a pickup.
According to officials, he entered the city limits on U.S. Hwy. 175. Jacksonville police put spikes out on Kickapoo Street, and the pickup came to a stop at the corner of Kickapoo and Pineda.
Tant then left the truck and fled on foot, running to the Madison Street location.
