A Date To Die: Former Cherokee County resident set for execution Thursday

JACKSONVILLE — On Thursday at 6 p.m., convicted capital murderer Richard Aaron Cobb will die by lethal injection in Huntsville.

We first brought you his Death Row interview in March. Now, with all appeals exhausted, Cobb’s execution is moving forward.

Cobb was sentenced to death for the Sept. 2002 shooting death of a mentally-challenged Rusk convenience store customer.

In Thursday’s paper, reporter Ben Tinsley furthers the story, talking with the law enforcement officers, one of the surviving victims, and family members.

Thursday night, Tinsley will attend the execution with KETK reporter Teresa Sardina. Tinsley and Sardina have been covering the story together and will provide a comprehensive video and written package for both our paper and KETK-NBC.
