Chamber Corner

JACKSONVILLE — The Annual Hay Show & Sale will be Oct. 22, at the Cherokee County Exposition Center in Jacksonville.  Stacy’s BBQ Dinner will begin at 6 p.m. with the hay auction to begin at 7 p.m.

A total of 27 hay samples will be auctioned to raise funds for scholarships for the youth in Cherokee County. The Grand Champion Hay Producer is Charles Jasper of Jacksonville and the Reserve Grand Champion is Hershel Garner of Gallatin.  In 2012, over $11,000 was raised.  One-half of the proceeds are given to the Cherokee Scholarship Fund, and the other half is split between the Cherokee County Soil & Water Conservation and Cherokee County Exposition Center.  The barbeque dinner is $10 per person.

This agricultural event is sponsored by the Jacksonville Chamber of Commerce Agri-Business Committee, Cherokee County Extension Service and Cherokee County Exposition Center.  Serving on the Agri-Business Committee are Co-Chairmen Roland Adams and Charles Dickerson, Brett Brewer– Chamber Chairman of the Board, Kris Sturrock – Chamber Chairwoman Elect, Debbie Kerzee – Chamber Community Development Division Chair and committee members are: Aaron Low, Byron Underwood, Willie Arnwine and Reggie McCollum.
