Chamber Chatter: Saying goodbye, 300th tomato sell

JACKSONVILLE — The Jacksonville Chamber of Commerce would like to welcome its newest member, Traditions Restaurant & Catering at 6205 S. Broadway, Tyler. Their website is www.traditionstyler.com.

This weeks' Board Member Spotlight shines on Darin Wood, a current board member set to retire in December 2014. Darin is the pastor of Central Baptist Church in Jacksonville. He is from Joshua, Texas. He is married to his best friend, Julie, but he said his son, Joshua, is a close second!

Darin enjoys reading, golf, Crossfit, Lego constructions and serving people!

- The Chamber would is saying goodbye to Kayla Stephenson who has worked at the Chamber office for the past three years. Kayla will start a new journey at Norman Law Firm. Kim Smith, who is retired from Smith Chiropractic Clinic, has joined the team.

- A ribbon cutting will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 18, at At Home Healthcare, 603 Palestine St., in Jacksonville. Everyone is also invited to attend a fish fry that will follow the ribbon cutting.

The fish fry will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the newly renovated At Home Healthcare, which is across the street from the previous location.

- A ribbon cutting will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 28, at Sears Hometown Store of Jacksonville, 1627 S. Jackson St.

- A ribbon cutting will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 4, at Dental Solutions of East Texas, 1501 East Rusk St.

- Keep Jacksonville Beautiful's "Paint the fire hydrant RED" project will be from 4:30 p.m. to dark Thursday, March 20th and from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, March 23. Meet at the Jacksonville Public Library to be a part! Confirm your volunteer services by email at Jvillevolunteers@gmail.com.

- An update on the Lake Columbia project will be held at noon Monday, April 28 at the Norman Activity Center in Jacksonville. The guest speaker will be Kelly Holcomb of the Angelina Neches River Authority. Forms to attend are available at the Chamber office.

- The Emaze at the Woods, formerly The Challenge at the Woods, on US Hwy 79 East is offering a Thursday menu item of 2 for 1 chicken fried steak or chicken for $10.99.
