JACKSONVILLE — A new program designed to assist parents of infants and toddlers has come to Cherokee County.

The no-cost “Parents as Teachers” program has existed in Texas since 1987, working with families to ensure their children are on-task with age-appropriate development, including social and emotional development skills, along with hearing and vision.

A certified parent educator makes home visits to assess the needs of both child and parent, then suggests ways to meet particular needs or goals, said Dana Henry,  program coordinator for the county.

For more information, contact Henry at dhenry@accessmhmr.org, or call903-586-2192. The program office is located at 913 N. Jackson St.
