Woman arrested for family assault

JACKSONVILLE — Dianey Leon, 24, of Jacksonville, was taken into custody at 2:10 a.m. Sunday morning on a family violence charge, Jacksonville Police Department Detective Sgt. Daniel Franklin said.

“A husband and wife got into a verbal argument about phone calls being made,” Franklin said. “One was intoxicated. The wife struck the husband and attempted to force her way past him.”

Franklin also said the police report didn’t declare which person was suspected to be intoxicated.

Leon was taken into custody on a $1,500 bond and charge with assault in a family violence case.

“She was determined to be the aggressor,” Franklin said.

Leon was transferred to Cherokee County custody Monday where she was released.
