Jacksonville police officials are investigating a one-vehicle wreck that killed a 26-year-old man.
Justin Berry, of Jacksonville, died at the scene of a wreck about 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the 2200 block of Lakeshore Drive, according to Detective James Oden of the Jacksonville Police Department.
“It was a one-vehicle accident, a small four-door Kia. It lost control and struck a big pine tree,” Oden said. “The driver was killed on impact.”
A passenger, Jeremy Bradley, 26, of Jacksonville, refused medical treatment at the scene.
However, he was later taken to a hospital for treatment, Oden said.
Police Chief Reece Daniel said the vehicle was traveling northbound on the road, went airborne and left the road on the opposite side.
“Based on the scene, it appears they were traveling at a high rate of speed,” Daniel said.
