RUSK — Several holiday events in Rusk have been postponed until next week due to inclement weather, according to the local Chamber of Commerce.

The Hospice “Light Up a Life” tree lighting ceremony will be held at 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 13, followed by the dedication of a nativity scene donated for display downtown.

On Saturday, Dec. 14, line-up for the city's annual Christmas Parade begins at 9 a.m. on Sycamore Street, with the parade starting at 10 a.m. For more information, call the Rusk Chamber at 903-683-4242.

Meanwhile, this weekend's 55th anniversary celebration of the founding of the Cherokee County  Historical Commission also has been postponed because of weather.

Instead, the open house has been rescheduled for 9 a.m. Dec. 14, coinciding with local parade events, said Shelly Cleaver, CCHC member.

The event will be held at 138 W. 5th St. in Rusk and features a veterans' display, as well as with one focusing on President John F. Kennedy.
