At 10 a.m. Monday, the Cherokee County Commissioners Court will conduct a public hearing, and then formally vote to set the tax rate for the 2013-2014 fiscal year.
This 2013-2014 budget and tax rate goes into effect Oct. 1.
Commissioners passed a $19.7 million annual budget on Aug. 26. It is $1.6 million higher than the previous year but maintains the current rate of $.59 cents per $100 valuation, explained Cherokee County Judge Chris Davis.
Ultimately, a $87,263 average taxable value of a Cherokee County residence would result in $514.85 in taxes under this tax rate, according to the commissioners court.
