From staff reports
Some nights, you just run into a buzz saw.
The Jacksonville Maidens had such a night Friday at home against Hallsville.
The Maidens lost 16-0 to Hallsville mainly due to the excellent pitching of senior Kayla Jackson.
Jackson, a Division I prospect, struck out 12 and allowed no runs or hits in the perfect game district 12-4A victory.
“We didn’t even hit anything out of the infield, nothing close to being a hit,” said Maidens head coach Jodie Steele.
Hallsville had nine hits and made the most of nine errors by the Maidens. Ashley Gwartney pitched a complete game and was tagged with the loss.
The Maidens fall to 1-7 in district, Hallsville is a perfect 8-0 as the first round ends.
Jacksonville will play at Henderson Tuesday at 6 p.m.
