Lassiter announces run for treasurer

CHEROKEE COUNTY — Patsy Lassiter announced Tuesday her candidacy County Treasurer of Cherokee County. Lassiter was elected as the county treasurer in 2003 and is currently serving her third term.

Lassiter is on the County Treasurer’s Association (CTAT) Education Committee. The education committee is responsible for program format and content of seminars required by State law to maintain continuing education credits for County Treasurers. CTAT also provides legislative updates and is a general support system for County Treasurer’s across the State of Texas.

In 2003, she earned a County Investment Officer Certification in compliance with Section 2256.008 of the Texas Public Funds Investment Act which qualifies me to oversee the investment of public funds.

Lassiter has maintained the 20 hours of Treasurer’s continuing education hours and 10 hours of Public Funds Investments Act and 15 hours of County Investment Officer training that is required per year for the past 11 years.

Lassiter has been the Treasurer for Region 10, County Treasurer's Association of Texas. She is serving  on the Board of County Treasurer's Association as Region 10 Director.

In July of this year she was honored by the  Texas Association of Counties (TAC) for ten years of pursuing excellence in county investment education during the 2013  County Investment academy held in Galveston June 10-12.

Lassiter was one of 15 county investors in the state honored for 10 years in the program.

Maintaining the certification shows a long term commitment to getting the safest return on the county taxpayer's dollar.
