22-year-old man found on side of road by motorist dies

RUSK — Rusk Police Department officials are investigating the death of a man found on the side of Underwood Street on Tuesday.

Lt. Brad George said a motorist contacted the police Tuesday night and said there was a black male lying near the road in the 100 block of Underwood Street.

George said when officers arrived they found Xavier Lang, 22, bleeding from the head. He was transported to ETMC in Tyler, and George said he was notified Wednesday night that Lang had died.

Lang is reportedly from the Rusk area. Reports show that an autopsy was ordered. The investigation is ongoing, and it is unknown if foul play was involved.
