Funeral services for Curtis Ross, age 92, of Jacksonville are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 28, 2013 at First Baptist Church in Jacksonville with Rev. Vernon Lee officiating. Burial will be at Mixon Cemetery in Mixon. Services are under the direction of Autry Funeral Home in Jacksonville.
Mr. Ross passed away Wednesday, December 4, 2013 in Plano.
Curtis was born July 11, 1921 in Cherokee County to Paul and Lillie Roycroft Ross. He lived most of his life in Jacksonville. Curtis served in the United States Navy during World War II. He was a retired construction worker and was very active member First Baptist Church in Jacksonville.
He loved his hobbies of creating toy guns, trains, and cars then selling them at arts and craft shows.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Mertie Durham Ross and three sisters.
Survivors include his son, Kenneth Ross and wife Darla of Leonard; sister, Molly Smith of Pasadena; six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren; one nephew; eight nieces; and sister-in-law, Ellen Ellis of Mixon.
Pallbearers will be Ricky Jackson, Steven Roper, Curtis P. Ross, Wesley Roper, Murphy Ross, and J.R. Beasley.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Etheridge and James Moffett.
Visitation will be from 6-8pm on Friday, December 27, 2013 at Autry Funeral Home in Jacksonville.
