Funeral services for Alice Alline Dement Morris, age 85, of Gallatin, are scheduled for 10:00 am Friday, September 28, 2012 at Gallatin Missionary Baptist Church in Gallatin with Bro. Robin Parsons and Bro. Calvin Gould officiating.
Burial will be held at Taylor Cemetery, Gallatin.
Services are under the direction of Autry Funeral Home, Jacksonville.
Mrs. Morris completed God’s plan for this life on Tuesday, September 25, 2012 at ETMC in Jacksonville.
She was born November 12, 1926 in Avalon, Texas to Tom and Becky Dement. Moved to Sargent, Texas and then to Gallatin, Texas in 1937. She attended Gallatin school.
Married James Price Morris September 16, 1942 in Rusk, Texas, a wonderful 59 years.
Mrs. Morris was a member of the Gallatin Missionary Baptist Church at the age of 11 years old and loved working for the Lord in every way.
She taught in Sunday School, Children’s Church, worked in Ladies Auxiliary, VBS, Choir, Secretary and Treasury and loved making the communion bread for the Lord’s Supper and decorating the Cross on Easter Sunday.
Mrs. Morris was a homemaker for many years, worked at Newton-Shanks Basket Factory, Jacksonville, Birmingham Nursing Facility, Rusk and retired from Discount City, Jacksonville.
She had many talents. Some were crochet, knitting, cooking, sewing, quilting, puzzles, dominoes, chicken foot and traveling with family.
She had a love for gardening and a passionate heart for the Lord. She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandmother.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband J. P. Morris, sisters, Polly Grimes, Deloris Dement and Lottie Garner, all of Gallatin.
Survivors include son and daughter-in-law James and Donna Morris; daughters and sons-in-law, Darnell and Curtis Hanson, Betty and Kerry Cruseturner, all of Gallatin; brother, Tom Dement Jr. and wife Shirley of Craft; seven grandchildren Chad Morris, April and husband Kenny Koop, Ronda Hanson, Keenan Hanson and wife Pam, Joey Lusk and wife Amanda, Stephanie Trawick and husband Anthony, David N. Walley; two step-grandchildren Gary Cruseturner and wife Lori and Stefanie Robison; fifteen great-grandchildren; five step-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild; numerous nieces and nephews, church family, provider and special friend Sheryll Tovar of Rusk.
She will be greatly missed by her loved ones.
Pallbearers will include grandsons Keenan Hanson, Joey Lusk, David N. Walley, Dewayne Morris, Justin Koop and Lawrence Tomas Dement.
Honorary pallbearers will be Kenny Koop, Donald Hubbard, Ricky McKenney, Greg Johnson, Elliott Johnson, Tyler Johnson, and William Blankinship.
Family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm Thursday, September 27, 2012 at the funeral home.
