Funeral services for Jerry Burns, age 72, of Jacksonville are scheduled for 3 p.m. Sun., Oct. 6, at Autry Funeral Home Chapel in Jacksonville with Bro. Jacob Rutledge officiating. Burial will be at Larissa Cemetery in Mt. Selman.
Mr. Burns passed away Wed. Oct. 2, 2013 in Jacksonville.
He was born Aug. 21, 1941 in Dallas to G.B. Burns and Elizabeth Lowery Burns.
Jerry was a retired truck driver of 31 years and a TDCJ Correctional Officer for five years. He had a BS degree from Stephen F. Austin State University and attended Lon Morris College.
He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Kyle Burns; stepson, Buel Grimes; sister, Cynthia Little.
He is survived by his wife Carolyn Burns of Jacksonville; sons, Kelly Burns and wife Venus of Whitehouse, Seann Burns of Tyler; daughters, Wendy Rutledge and husband Richard of Mt. Vernon, Tenny Jordan and husband Donald of Slocum, Jennifer Grimes of Jacksonville; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; numerous nephews and nieces.
Serving as pallbearers will be grandsons, Joshua Bohannon, Kyle Bohannon, Jacob Rutledge, Taylor Burns, James Burns, Corbin Pratt, Jerrod Doss, and Otis Lackey.
Honorary pallbearers are Tom Root, Harold Owens, and TDCJ officers.
Visitation will be before services from 2-3 p.m. at Autry Funeral Home in Jacksonville.
Rather than the customary condolences, memorials in memory of Jerry may be made to the charity of your choice.
