JACKSONVILLE — Graveside services for Cherry Dillard McWhorter, age 88, of Jacksonville, are scheduled for 1:00 p.m. Thursday, June 12, 2014, at Resthaven Memorial Park in Jacksonville, with Dr. Darin Wood officiating. Services are under the direction of Autry Funeral Home in Jacksonville.
Mrs. McWhorter passed away Saturday, June 7, 2014, in Tyler.
She was born October 7, 1925, in Malakoff, Texas.
Cherry worked as a loan officer for Texas Commerce Bank, now JP Morgan Chase, for 30 years. She also volunteered as a Pink Lady at ETMC in Jacksonville for 20 years. Cherry was active in the Jr. Livestock Show and was co-owner with her husband of Cherokee Feed Mill.
Cherry was a member of Central Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Theresa Dillard; husband of 55 years, Frank M. McWhorter; and a sister, Frances Bird.
Survivors include her daughter, Susan Chamber, and son, Michael McWhorter, both of Tyler; grandchildren, Eric Hazlitt, Ryne Bailey and wife Natalie; step-grandchildren, Anna and Abby Wilder; nephews, Don Bird and wife Judy, Ron Bird and wife Evelyn; and several great nieces and nephews.
Visitation will begin on Wednesday, June 11, 2014, with family receiving friends from 5-7 p.m. at Autry Funeral Home in Jacksonville.
