Bobby Sam Townley

Dialville —  Funeral services for Bobby Sam Townley, age 81, of Dialville, are scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday, May 2, 2014 at Autry Funeral Home Chapel in Jacksonville with Pastor David Butler officiating.  Interment will follow at 3:00 p.m. at Conner Cemetery in Kennard.

Mr. Townley passed away Tuesday, April 29, 2014 in Tyler.

Bobby was born March 9, 1933 in Lufkin to Murray and Gussie Townley.

Bobby worked in law enforcement for 30 years which included the Jacksonville Police Department, Cherokee County Sherriff’s Department, and he was Chief Probation Officer for Cherokee and Nacogdoches counties. He worked in campground host management in CO, UT, NV, and KY. Bobby was a Mason for over 50 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Kathy Lynn Duncan.

Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Willie Jean Townley of Jacksonville; daughters, Teresa Pippin and husband William of Lake City, CO., Laurie Shingle and husband Steve of Ogden, UT; stepdaughters, Linda Watson and husband Tom, Kay Stevens and husband Kim, Lisa Odom and husband Rickie, all of Jacksonville; grandchildren, Brittni Shingle, Lindsey Shingle, and Brianna Duncan; great-grandchildren, Paislee and Spencer; eight step-grandchildren; and 14 step-great grandchildren.

Visitation will begin on Thursday, May 1, 2014 with family receiving friends from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Autry Funeral Home in Jacksonville.
