William David Freeman

JACKSONVILLE — William David Freeman died suddenly Friday, December 6, 2013 at McLeod Seacoast Hospital.

Born on January 31, 1946 in Wadesboro, NC, he was the son of the late Charlie B. and Dorothy Tarleton Freeman.

“Dave” attended Appalachian State University and graduated from UNC-Charlotte, NC.  He loved music and enjoyed a long career in that industry.  He moved to North Myrtle Beach in 1998 and revived The Pad in Ocean Drive.  He led the Neptune Blues Band there, and was currently employed as an entertainer on the Big M casino boat, where he leaves many friends.  He was a member of the Kilwinning Masonic Lodge #64 in Wadesboro, NC and an Omar Shriner.

Survivors include his wife, Wanda Walters Freeman; son, Charlie Freeman of Charleston, SC; stepsons Bill and Ben Hunt of Jacksonville, TX; special nephew and niece Ben Freeman of Cary, NC and Doris Matal of Raleigh, NC; nephew Daniel Freeman of Connecticut and several great nieces and nephews, all of whom he loved dearly.  He treasured the many friends and memories he had in the music world.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 pm on Tuesday, December 10 at Lee Funeral Home.  His music family will have a jam session in his honor at the O.D. Arcade following visitation.  Burial will be at 2 pm on Wednesday, December 11 in Wadesboro, NC.
