JACKSONVILLE — Lillian Edwards Wooddell, 94, of Jacksonville, Texas left to be with our Lord on Wednesday, July 2, 2014 in Craft, Texas, of natural causes.
Lillian was born on February 18, 1920 in Rusk, Texas, to Sanford Douglass Edwards and Lula Hortense (Tennie) Evans Edwards. She grew up with eight sisters and a brother.
She married the love of her life Wiley Joseph Wooddell at the age of 16, on May 23, 1936, in Gainsville, Texas. They were married for 45 years.
She served our Lord as a Licensed Ordained Evangelist for 67 years. During her years of service she brought many people to love the Lord. She also performed many weddings, baptisms and dedications of family and friends.
Professionally she was a nurse, but her passion was evangelism. She resided at Cherokee County, Texas, for 89 years of her life and had many friends.
Lillian and Wiley had eight children together. She lived a long wonderful life and was loved by everyone that met her. Her love for God was a light that shone brightly for all that knew her. Her hope and faith was a beacon for her family and friends alike.
She is survived by two sons, Bobby Gene Wooddell of Jacksonville, Texas, and Clifford Ray Wooddell and wife Fannie of Arlington, Texas; a daughter, Lula Joyce Lane and husband Carey of Jacksonville, Texas; five sisters, Nolia Haven, of Barstow, Texas, Lucille Goodman, of Rusk, Texas, Ruby Holden of Barstow, Texas, Clara Fay Singletary of Glen Rose, Texas, and Retha Mae Brooks, of Lufkin, Texas; 18 grandchildren, 52 great-grandchildren, and 47 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband Wiley Joseph Wooddell, her parents Sanford & Tennie Edwards, children, Goldie Dell Wooddell, Wiley Joseph Wooddell Jr., James Douglass Wooddell, Jennie Sue Lusk, Joseph Wayne Wooddell Sr., two grandchildren, & two great-grandchildren, siblings Carrie Lou Helm, Estelle Edwards, Lessie Edwards, & Sanford Douglass Edwards Jr.
