Martha Marie Goodwin

JACKSONVILLE — Funeral services for Martha Marie Goodwin, age 89, of Jacksonville, are scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at Autry Funeral Home Chapel in Jacksonville with Rev. Barbara Hugghins officiating.  Burial will follow at Jacksonville City Cemetery, under the direction of Autry Funeral Home.

Mrs. Goodwin passed away Monday, July 14, 2014, peacefully in her family home, under the care of Heart to Heart Hospice and her


She was born March 17, 1925 in this same family home 89 years ago to JE and Gwendolyn Patton.

Martha lived in Jacksonville, TX most of her life. She was a homemaker and a “mawmaw” and grandmother  to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Martha was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, John Douglas Goodwin; one son, John Philip Goodwin; and sister, Jo Ethelyn Smrekar.

She is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, David and Bonnie Goodwin of Elkhart, Greg and Teresa Goodwin of Jacksonville; daughter-in-law, Margaret Goodwin-Reynolds; grandchildren, Brent and Tammy Goodwin of Dallas, TX, Phil and Cherri Goodwin of Lake Palestine, Deanna and Chance Hamilton of Jacksonville, Renea and Ricky Davis of Chandler, Gregory and Ann Goodwin of Jacksonville, John and Lindsey Goodwin of Jacksonville, Lisa and David Gray of Jacksonville, Tessie Bradley of Mayflower, AR, and Staff Sgt. G. W. Bulcken, USMC and wife Kristina; and many great-grandchildren.

Grandsons will be serving as pallbearers.

Visitation will begin on Tuesday, July 15, 2014 with family receiving friends from 6-8 p.m. at Autry Funeral Home in Jacksonville.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Saade, Dr. Slough, the staff at East Texas Medical Center-Jacksonville, At Home Healthcare and Heart to Heart Hospice for their excellent care and devotion.
