Kenneth Martin

ALTO — Funeral services for Kenneth Martin, age 69, of Alto are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday, February 10, 2014 at First Baptist Church in Rusk Burial will be at Lowe’s Chapel Cemetery in Rusk under the direction of Autry Funeral Home.

He was born May 13, 1944 in Rusk to Tommie and Evelyn Alexander Martin. He was a decorated U.S. Navy veteran and following his service went on to a successful career in retail management.

Mr. Martin passed away Friday, February 7, 2014 in Tyler.

Kenneth was a Deacon at the First Baptist Church in Rusk, formerly a Deacon at Colonial Hills Baptist Church in Tyler.  He was an avid golfer and enjoyed cheering on his grandsons in track.

He is preceded in death by his father; and niece Sara Hassell.

Survivors include his wife, Loeta Martin of Alto; son, Kenny Martin and wife Amy; grandsons, Grant and Alec;  of The Woodlands; mother, Evelyn Middleton and husband Olis of Rusk; sister, Janis Brooks and husband Rick of Rusk; brother, Tommie Dean Martin and wife Susie of Nacogdoches; sister, Connie Catalani and husband Robert of Rusk; several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Kenny Martin, Grant Martin, Alec Martin, Mark Jones, Rodney Hassell, and Marcus Hassell.

Visitation will begin on Sunday, February 9, 2014 with family receiving friends from 5 to 7 p.m. at Autry Funeral Home in Jacksonville.

Rather than customary condolences, donation may be made to Lufkin State Supported Living Center, 6844 US Hwy 69, Pollok, TX 75969; The Troy Dagle Mission Fund or The Matthew Fund at First Baptist Church 372 E. First Street, Rusk, TX 75785.
