Maria del Carmen Garza Colvin

JACKSONVILLE — Mass of Christian Burial for Maria del Carmen Garza Colvin, age 85, of Jacksonville is scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, March 1, 2014 at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Jacksonville with Father Mark Kusmirek officiating.  Services are under the direction of Autry Funeral Home in Jacksonville.

Burial will be held at Still Waters Memorial Garden in Jacksonville immediately following the service.

Mrs. Colvin passed away Thursday, February 27, 2014, in Arlington.

Carmen was born December 26, 1928, in Brownsville, Texas.

Mrs. Colvin retired from Austin Bank in 1999 after 25 years of dedicated service.  She also worked at Bearden Furniture for a number of years and was an active member of the Pink Ladies at East Texas Medical Center in Jacksonville.  Carmen was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Jacksonville for over 43 years.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Nicholas and Rosa Garza and her husband, William “Bill” Jay Colvin.

Survivors include sons, Bill Colvin of Garland, Eric Garza-Colvin and Raquel Perez of New Braunfels, John Colvin and wife Kristen of Southlake; daughter, Karen Messer and husband Bruce of Arlington; daughter-in-law, Karen Leigh Colvin of Jacksonville; sister, Pilar Garza of Brownsville; sister-in-law, Colette Greene and husband Bill of Keithville, LA; and eleven grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, February 28, 2014 with rosary to begin at 7:00 p.m. at Autry Funeral Home in Jacksonville.
