The love of God, family and friends and a giving spirit characterize the life of Hazel Knox Henry, 87, who passed away peacefully in her sleep on Dec. 29, 2013.
She was born May 16, 1926, in Lovelady, Tx., to Emmet and Irene Robinson Knox of Crockett, Tx.
She married her husband of 48 years, Walter Lee Henry, Jr. in September of 1945. They resided in Houston for most of those years before retiring to Jacksonville, Tx. Hazel worked as a receptionist for Pepsi's Union Bottling Works of Houston for 20 years.
Walter's engineering career with Dow Chemical EC&S was aided greatly by Hazel's wonderful social skills. She was known for her thoughtful and consistent correspondence with all family and friends. They traveled extensively throughout their lives, both domestically and internationally.
Hazel was preceded in death by her husband, Walter, and brothers, Raymond and Travis Knox and grandson, Matthew Falkstein; and longtime companion, Leon Boatman.
She is survived by her brother, Leland Knox and wife, Velma of Pasadena and her sister, Doris Krizak and husband, Gene, of Baytown, Tx; her daughter, Rita Henry Falkstein; son, Walter Lee Henry III; son, William Henry and wife, Blanche, of Houston; and daughter, Barbara Walls and husband, Mac, of Berwyn, Ill.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 3, 2014, at the Family Chapel at Forest Park-Lawndale in Houston. The Rev. Larry Smith of Friendship Baptist Church of Jacksonville, Tx., will officiate.
