Services for Archie Travis Kennard, 82, of Tyler, will be held Sun., Nov. 11, at 2 p.m. at Stewart Family Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Jay Lockhart and J.C. Tate officiating. The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. at the funeral home.
Burial will follow at Cathedral in the Pines Cemetery in Tyler under the direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home.
Mr. Kennard passed away Thurs., Nov. 8, 2012 in Tyler.
He was born Feb. 28, 1930 in Jacksonville to Amos and Ruth Kennard.
Archie was a member of West Erwin Church of Christ.
Mr. Kennard and his family moved to Tyler in 1963 and he worked in the insurance industry until 1973, later working as a petroleum land man until he retired.
Archie loved guns and was a member of the NRA and he loved baseball. He cherished his daughter and grandchildren and was a loving father and husband.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Kennard was preceded in death by his brother, Bobby Worthy.
He is survived by his loving family including his wife of 62 years, Faye Kennard of Tyler; daughter, Joni Smith of Tyler; grandchildren, Erica Worden and husband Amos of Lindale and Bradley Smith and wife Erin of Dallas; great-grandchildren, Valerie, Brooke and Lizzie Worden; brother, Tommy Johns and wife Jennine of Frankston and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Bradley Smith, Bobby Smith, Amos Worden, Billy Terrell, Tim McCoulough and Phil Marts.
Honorary pallbearers will be Freeman Morgan, Carroll Magee, Bill Wilmeth, and Dr. Peter Langsjoen.
