Roy Donald “Poad” Tullis

JACKSONVILLE — Roy Donald “Poad” Tullis, 71,  of Superior, Ariz. died Tues., Aug. 27, 2013.

Poad was born in Hope, Ark.on May 23, 1942, to Roy and Chloe Tullis.  He worked for Resolution Copper Company in Superior, Ariz. for many years, ending his employment in December 2012.

Poad graduated from Hope High School in 1960 excelling on his cornet in band.  He spent two years in the United States Army and at one time his job in the service was playing Reveille in the morning and Taps at night.   This was in Washington D.C. where he also served as a Military Driver for Presidential Motorcades, which resulted in his receiving a personal letter of commendation from President Johnson.   

Poad is survived by his Mother, Chloe Tillman of Jacksonville; two daughters, Kami Rose of Springerville, Ariz. and Tonya Tullis of Los Angeles, Calif. and one son, Lance Tullis of Superior, Ariz.; three sisters, Bobbie Toner and Bonnie Bariola both of Chandler, Ariz. and Peggy Brown of Jacksonville.  He is also survived by several nieces and nephews as well as grandnieces and grandnephews.   

Visitation is scheduled for Fri., Sept.6,  from 5 to 8 p.m. at Superior Funeral Home.  Interment is scheduled for Sat., Sept. 7,  at 10 a.m. in the VA Section of Superior, Arizona’s Fairview Cemetery with military honors provided by Ray Unified School District High School’s ROTC.
