Wesley William Stutts, 92, passed peacefully on to be with his Lord and Savior on Mon., April 29, 2013 in the care of Hospice of East Texas. He was surrounded by his beloved wife and children.
Born in Davis, Okla., he was the son of the late Tom Allen and Nettie Autry Stutts.
Mr. Stutts graduated from Kerens High School in 1938 and then went on to serve in the 36th division in World War II where he was a Staff Sergeant. He married the love of his life, Flora Burgin, on Feb. 2, 1947 in Longview. Wesley was a senior operator for Exxon Mobil Oil Company , and retired after 41 years. Mr. Stutts was known for his compassionate heart, often putting others needs before his own. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. Wes enjoyed his work and those with whom he worked, and most of all, spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren.
Everyone who had the privilege of knowing Wes will miss him tremendously.
Mr. Stutts is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Flora Burgin Stutts of Tyler. His son, Ronnie Stutts and wife, Alicia, of Ardmore, Okla.; his daughter, Brenda Johnson and husband, Randy, of Nacogdoches; two granddaughters, Ashley Tarrant and husband John, of Weatherford and Courtney Singh, and husband, Davis of Nashville, Tenn.; three grandsons, Brandon Stutts and wife Amy, of Nashville, Tenn.; Jared Johnson and wife, Carrie Jo of Nacogdoches, and Jorden Wade of Dallas, and four great grandchildren. He is also survived by sisters Ann Gilbert, and husband, Cecil; Melba Loving and husband, George; Dorris Johnson; Judy Hughes and husband, Howard; brothers, Chester Stutts and wife, Carrie; Delbert Stutts and wife, Mary; Travis Stutts and wife Jo Anne along with a host of nieces and nephews.
Visitation with the family will be held from 5 until 7 p.m. Wed., May 1, at Stewart Family Funeral Home in Tyler.
Funeral service for Mr. Stutts, officiated by Elder Vernis Stanaland and Elder Jim Hambrick, will begin at 10 a.m. Thurs., May 2, at Stewart Family Funeral Home in Tyler with burial immediately following at Cathedral of the Pines Cemetery in Tyler.
In addition to his parents, Tom and Nettie Stutts, Wesley was preceded in death by his brothers, Thomas, Clarence and Marvin Stutts.
Pallbearers for Mr. Stutts will be Brandon Stutts, Jared Johnson, Randy Johnson, John Tarrant, Jorden Wade, Phil Pittman and Jim Musser.
The family wishes to extend special thanks to the doctors and nursing staff of East Texas Medical Center Hospital as well as Hospice of East Texas.
