Jacksonville Daily Progress
Ted Kent O'Neil went home to be with his Lord Jesus Christ on Saturday, April 26 in Hospice East Texas of Tyler following a lengthy battle with cancer. He is remembered as a loving husband, wonderful father/grandfather and Poppie and generous caring friend to all.
Mr. O'Neil was born to Kenneth and Nina O'Neil of Grand Junction, Colorado. He was preceded in death by his parents and mother-in-law, Elsie Upshaw of Jacksonville. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Betty, of Jacksonville; daughter, Susan O'Neil of Oregon; son, Greg and wife Cindy of California; grandchildren, Tanner and Riley O'Neil; god children, Cindy and Jay Thompson and daughters, Jacie and Savanah of Mt. Pleasant; brother, Jack O'Neil of Oregon; several nieces and nephews and special friends, Barbara Hassell, Loma Dudley, Sandy Simmons, Donna Reneau and Kenny McClendon.
Mr. O'Neil was a graduate of University of Oregon. He served in the United States Air Force and was a member of Afton Grove Baptist Church, Jacksonville.
A graveside service is scheduled by Boren-Conner Funeral Home for Tuesday, April 29, at 3:30 P. M., Meador Cemetery, Jacksonville with the Rev. David Hallum and Rev. Lance Lewis officiating. Pallbearers are Greg Chancey, Dennis Lopez, Brandon Lovelady, Kenny McClendon, Gelberth Perez and Robert Rhyne.
