Elton Ray Young

LEAGUE CITY — Elton Ray Young was called home by his Heavenly Father on May 3, 2014 in League City, Texas.

Elton was born on October 16, 1924, in Whitewright, TX, and is preceded in death by parents, Frank and Ora Young; wife of 42 years, Wynell Young; brothers, Willie and Grady Young; sister, Betty Stem and grandson, Bill Baughman.

Elton, or E.R. as he was known, was a retired Pipefitter from Amoco Oil with 37 years of service.

Elton is survived by two devoted daughters and their families, eldest daughter, Diane Lipsey of Pearland, son-in-law, Benji Lipsey; granddaughter, Dawn Balli; great-granddaughter, Lola Balli; youngest daughter, Karen Adkins of League City; son-in-law, Paul Adkins, and grandchildren, Trevor, Kiersten and Ty Adkins. He is also survived by a loving son, Alan Young of Houston and his family, grandchildren, Tracy Young, Shawnia Willson, Bobby Young, Brandy Mariera, Alan Jr. and Nathan Young and 12 great-grandchildren. Elton Ray, as he was affectionately called, is also survived by sister, Faye Goad; brother, Doyle Young and many nieces and nephews, caring for all as his own.

A Visitation will be held at Carnes Funeral Home-Texas City on Thursday, May 8, from 5-7 p.m. with a Funeral Services on Friday, May 9, at 10 a.m., with a 4 p.m. Graveside Services in Jacksonville, TX, at Providence Cemetery.

The family would also like to extend a special thank you to his long time caregivers and special friends, Marsha and Kenny Moorehead, Terry and Rhonda Brawner, Brittany McFarlin, Davis Deal and all of the wonderful staff at Brawner Sunset Haven personal care home. We could never adequately express our gratitude for your love, care and friendship.
